Ankura buys data analytics firm Noragh Analytics

Consulting firm Ankura has acquired Noragh Analytics, a boutique data analytics consulting firm based in Alexandria, VA.

Founded in 2011 by William Flanagan, Jr., a retired four-star admiral in the US Navy, Noragh helps government and commercial clients leverage analytic and data management technology to transform business processes, prevent fraud, and predict patterns and outcomes. The firm’s proprietary platforms gather both structured and unstructured data from internal and external into comprehensive data networks and utilize AI, machine learning, and graph analytics to drive useful insights.

Noragh’s work has included working with insurance clients to provide real-time analytics and prevent hundreds of millions of dollars in fraud.

The firm has more than 15 employees, according to LinkedIn.Ankura’s purchase of Noragh will strengthen its data and technology practice and expand its ability to generate key insights from big data to deliver solutions to complex client issues, according to press release from the Washington, DC-based management consultancy.

“As we continue to push the envelope on innovation, the Noragh platform allows us to find answers and provide solutions within data that our competitors simply cannot reach,” said Kevin Lavin, CEO of Ankura. “Today’s announcement also reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering the best cutting-edge technology and solutions to clients for their most pressing challenges.”

The deal arrives three months after Ankura received a minority investment from HPS Investment Partners. Ankura also in November acquired McLarty Associates, a Washington, DC-based commercial diplomacy firm, adding a team of nearly 100 professionals.

“What started off as a critical initiative to help the intelligence community fight terror has grown to become one of the most advanced analytics companies of its kind,” Flanagan said. “I’m looking forward to unleashing the combined talent of Noragh and Ankura to bring the power of our platforms to bear for our clients in the commercial and government marketplaces.”
