IBM acquires Azure consulting firm Neudesic

IBM has acquired Neudesic, an Irvine, CA-based technology consulting and managed services firm specializing in the Microsoft Azure platform.

Founded in 2002, Neudesic’s more than 1,500 consultants in the US and India deliver digital transformation services in application development, cloud migration, DevOps, integration, data engineering, data visualization, and automation. The Microsoft Gold Partner supports clients in the health and life sciences, financial services, energy and utilities, professional services, and retail industries.

IBM will roll the firm into its hybrid cloud business within its IBM Consulting division. The move strengthens the Armonk, NY tech company’s cloud consulting offering as the firm increases its competitive footing against Accenture, Deloitte, and others. Gartner projects a $200 billion market for cloud managed services and consulting by 2024.

“Neudesic adds deep Azure cloud, data engineering, and data analytics expertise to accelerate our clients’ hybrid cloud journeys,” said John Granger, SVP of IBM Consulting. “This builds upon IBM’s prior acquisitions of cloud transformation capabilities last year.”

The Neudesic deal is one of more than 20 acquisitions Big Blue has made since Arvind Krishna was named CEO in April 2020. The US transactions include: Sentaca, a Boston-based cloud consultancy focusing on telecom clients; BoxBoat Technologies, a Bethesda, MD-based provider of container strategy and implementation services; and the Adobe Workfront practice of Rego Consulting, a Centerville, UT-based firm specializing in work management software consulting.

Neudesic will join an IBM hybrid cloud ecosystem with capabilities across Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Databricks, Snowflake, Denodo, Kubernetes, MuleSoft, RedHat, Salesforce, UIPath, SAP, and Oracle.

“As a Microsoft Gold Partner with multiple Azure competencies, Neudesic is excited to enhance IBM’s hybrid cloud strategy with extensive Azure capabilities,” said Parsa Rohani, co-founder and CEO of Neudesic. “The combination of our capabilities with IBM’s hybrid cloud vision and scale will drive even more impactful innovation for clients.”
